What Attracts You

By Lillie Oliver
Every now and then some new concept or high tech tool comes along and tantalizes the minds of the multitudes. Depending on the magnitude of impact, often what effectively results vary from great strides and changes on personal levels to global scales. When it comes to the movie The Secret and its teachings about the law of attraction , there have been many people jumping on board as if it were a new and unheard of concept.

Positive affirmations and positive thinking and even the law of attraction, are not new to us. So why have so many people jumped on the ban wagon of manifestation this time around? One key factor might be the new way of explaining the scientific aspect behind the old idea.

Relating the power of though energy to the energy vibrations of everything around us is the skeptics smelling salts for many eye opening modes of thinking. Scientific discoveries, much like law, are fixed factors that stabilize and ground possibilities into sound beliefs. Thus getting the skeptic to understand the concept becomes the only challenge. Although we are continuously learning more, science has its undeniable concrete grounding effect.

Aside from the original movies teachings, another popular scientific discovery on this subject matter comes from a Quantum Physics discovery of how electrons change their behavior in reaction to being observed. Again, the science is proven and what remains is the understanding of it in relationships to manifesting.

In addition to the science of it all, titling the movie The Secret provoked curiosity as to when, what and where was the hidden concept in the first place. In response this may have been why it turned the heads of many Holy Doctrine devotees. Many found themselves seeking truth and proof of the science in scriptures in order that they might compare the potency of The Secrets message with Bible teachings. Some spiritual leaders sought to warn people to beware of false teachings and disprove it while others looked to enhance awareness for better understanding it.

Once knowing what the law of attraction is on the level of science, relating it to Biblical doctrine is easy. It is undeniable that thought effectualness is what Jesus was teaching when he said, when praying for something behave as if you have already received it. This was also what Jesus was trying to convey when he spoke to those he healed in saying, it was because of their belief that He was able to heal them. Another interesting interlocking of the law of attraction in relation to belief and biblical teaching is when Jesus told His disciples that if only they believed, they could tell a mountain to move itself into the ocean and it would. The amazing man Jesus who walked on water spoke of how our thinking was able to do much more than we imagined. This is confirmed again in His teaching that sinning in our thoughts is the same as sinning in the flesh. As a Master of masters, many religious scholars would not deny that Jesus's words are significant evidence that Bible teachings support the law of attraction concepts.

Another interesting perspective as to The Secrets depth of success should in deed be attributed to the makers of the film themselves. Surely they believed what they wanted to teach and utilized energies of visualizations, feelings, and thoughts for the movies success to reach the multitudes in understanding, applying, and changing the world for the better. Once the idea was conceived and great thinkers put into action, manifestation of a film that illuminated harmony and clear understanding was thus inevitability born.

In order to understand why The Secret has had such a powerful impact on the minds of so many who already knew the secret, one could say it is due to powerful impacts of new science, old religion and present day applications. Apparently this combination has shaken awake the giants of incredulity and shed the blankets of the dormant believers. We have only to wait and see what dreams may come of it all.

Self Help Books

In the last twenty years people have been buying self help books like the end of the world is coming. It makes you wonder what people did to survive all this time. It seems there is a guide out there for every possible situation, problem, or lifestyle. I know that sometimes we really need guidance with something, but I think the amount of self help books out there is just this side of crazy. Doesn’t anyone know how to do anything anymore without some stranger telling them what to do?

I’m being a bit hard on self help books, I know that, but there are really good ones and there are some that are just plain worthless. The funny part is that the ones that are useless are the ones that seem to be the best sellers. There are indeed hard things to in life, and if you need help that you can get from a book, I think it’s wonderful that you can get that help. However, there are some things that are common sense. You don’t need self help books to help you with these things, and you aren’t giving yourself enough of a chance to think for yourself.

I have bought a few self help books in my day, and most of them saddened me when I finished them. I never found anything that I didn’t already know, and I wondered why so many people had to have what was contained within those self help books spelled out for them. My gut reaction was that many bought the books like I did hoping for some insight, only to feel just like me when they were done. Though there are some who just don’t know the basics, most of us don’t need these books to tell us what we already know.

There are some exceptionally good self help books out there, however, that I would hope anyone would buy if they felt the need. If you are living with someone who is abusive, is an alcoholic, or if someone has a life altering illness, you should get self help books to help you deal with what is going on. There are some situations and problems that really aren’t something we just know. When it comes to special circumstances like that, you need all the help you can get, and self help books are certainly a good first step towards healing the problem or situation.

Think And Grow Rich: Book :By Napolean Hill

I have known for a long time that I have some very negative habits that hold me back. In many ways, I am disorganized, easily distracted, and not very focused on my goals. Although I have tried to implement the power of positive thinking in my own life with some success, I still can't get over the feeling that something is missing. I contemplated life coaching, therapy, and various other strategies to help me reprogram myself into a more driven, successful individual, but I felt lost by the maze of different options available. There is just simply too much out there and it is impossible to evaluate all of it. How was I ever to separate the wheat from the chaff?

I finally found a book Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill that seemed to be universally agreed upon as a good source for learning how to build your own personal wealth. It was a volume called Think and Grow Rich, written by someone who had studied Carnegie, Rockefeller, and many of the other self-made barons of well. I knew that it wasn't a very current text, but nonetheless it seemed like the best place to start. When you can't figure out what to do, always go back to the source texts. The earlier the text, the more likely it is that it will have the information in its most pure, undiluted form.

As it turned out, Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill was only a starting point. It told me a lot about how various wealthy people thought, and how their thought processes contributed to their accumulation of wealth, but it wasn't enough by itself. You see, I had so many entrenched bad habits that learning how to think and grow rich seemed like too much of a task to do alone.

Nevertheless, I worked on it every day. Every time I would see myself falling into old, negative habits, I would chant some positives affirmations internally. I would make lists of all of my tasks, and I would not rest until they were all completed. I knew that, if I wanted to think and grow rich, I needed to be ruthless in my pursuit of success. Soon, it was my first priority. It hasn't been easy, but I think I have made some progress towards growing wealthy. It isn't something that will happen overnight, but I think if I put a few years into it, things will turn around for me.

The 60 Books That Have Impacted My Life Most

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers." - Charles W Eliot.

Charlie 'Tremendous' Jones, the founder and CEO of Executive Books once remarked, "You are the same today as you're going to be in five years except for two things, the people you meet and the books you read." May I also add the tapes/CD you listened to and the magazine/journals you read are also very important.

To me, reading is a way of life and one of the things I can spend any money on is buying books. I started the hobby in 1982 by buying three books of the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo namely ‘Voice of Reason’, ‘Voice of Courage’, and ‘Voice of Wisdom’. I remembered the book I read on my 21st birthday was ‘Think & Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill, and since then I have not looked back.

On September 5, 2004 after delivering an icebreaker speech at the Speakers of Croydon Toastmasters, Joe De Souza, one of my mentors, asked me a question "what books do you recommend to read?" The Secret to Success in 2004 (or any year)

Do you want to achieve your most important goals in 2004? In my opinion it gets down to two simple words, "easy" and "neglect".

People often ask me how I became successful at the early age of 31, while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: During that 6-year period of time (age 25 to 31), the things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn't matter.

If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I'm a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books รข€“ libraries are full of books - and they are free! It is not the schools - the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.

Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply neglect.

Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.

Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more... and on and on it goes.

So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of "easy to" and "easy not to" that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, "easy"; but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.

To Your Success,

Jim Rohn

The Key To Success - Working Harder On Yourself Than You Do On Your Job

(I probably should have entitled this "The Key To Success?" because I am not speaking as an authority here but as an interested explorer)

I'm not sure where I first heard the expression that the key to success and wealth was "working harder on yourself than on your job", but I do remember that when I first heard it (and for many of the times thereafter), I dismissed it as not being relevant to me. I knew after all that I wasn’t going to achieve the kind of success that I was after by working in a "job". It had to be a quest or a mission for me and I had to be committed beyond the job "requirements" (or even better, to be working for myself) in order for me to be successful. So, I dismissed it and said to myself, “Definitely. Those wage slaves need to hear that so that they will free themselves from the bonds of employment and start working for themselves.”

Well, if we needed any reminder of the pitfall of the “I know that” when it comes to personal development, I submit myself as a warning to the masses. Someone once said (you’ll find that I’m not much for researching the details) that men need not so much to be taught as reminded. Well, I was “reminded” of that truth about the key to success a couple of days ago when I was listening (on my IPOD!) to Jim Rohn, “The Key To Exceptional Living”. When he said, in his distinctive voice, that the key to success was to work harder blah blah blah, I heard it in a different way.

I work very hard. I always have a lot of projects going on. I spend my time doing a lot and those efforts have gotten me to where I am right now. What I interpreted Jim to be saying is that if you want to make a “quantum leap”, always ensure that you’re working harder on self-development than on project development. What does that mean?

Well, first, it means knowing what are the Key Success Factors in your life and career? Where, if you got better, even marginally better (i.e. more skilled, more competent/confident, more effective or efficient), would there be the greatest difference in your satisfaction, your results, your performance?

I’m looking at myself now and asking that question. The answers that I’m coming up with are:

Focusing, Prioritizing, Choosing between many options

Subsection: (Not having 27 different word documents open at the bottom of my screen right now – literally)
Natural Persuasion Techniques
The Discipline of Sticking to a Schedule
Keeping my mind focused on the person that I want to become
Personal Grooming and Appearance
The Discipline of Putting/Keeping Everything in its place
Being a Loving, Empathetic husband
(I’m sure the list goes on)

I think that the message of Jim Rohn’s maxim is that it’s easy to focus on results and it’s extraordinarily important to get and measure results, but if you focus on improving yourself, making yourself better (obviously, through actions and implementation and the feedback cycle), then (a) the results will naturally follow and (b) your primary asset will have increased in value.

Stephen Covey (of 7 Habits fame) identified the 7th Habit of Highly Effective People as “Sharpening the Saw”, which meant taking time to ensure that you were continually improving as a person, employee, entrepreneur rather than simply “working at results” all the time. Covey and Rohn both recognize that the temptation (heck, even the rest of their instruction) is to improve the results and that that focus naturally can draw your attention “outside of yourself”, looking to see how other people can be changed and how stuff can be rearranged.

What I’m taking on is the following process:

(1) noticing the changes in the external world that I’d like to create and
(2) stepping back into myself and saying, “What are the internal projects that I can work on that will have the impact of creating those results but at the same time making me a better version of myself?

Maybe that’s the Protein Shake talking, but I think it sounds profound.

The Miracle of Personal Development

One day Mr. Shoaff said, "Jim, if you want to be wealthy and happy, learn this lesson well: Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job."

Since that time I've been working on my own personal development. And I must admit that this has been the most challenging assignment of all. This business of personal development lasts a lifetime.

You see, what you become is far more important than what you get. The important question to ask on the job is not, "What am I getting?" Instead, you should ask, "What am I becoming?" Getting and becoming are like Siamese twins: What you become directly influences what you get. Think of it this way: Most of what you have today you have attracted by becoming the person you are today.

I've also found that income rarely exceeds personal development. Sometimes income takes a lucky jump, but unless you learn to handle the responsibilities that come with it, it will usually shrink back to the amount you can handle.

If someone hands you a million dollars, you'd better hurry up and become a millionaire. A very rich man once said, "If you took all the money in the world and divided it equally among everybody, it would soon be back in the same pockets it was before."

It is hard to keep that which has not been obtained through personal development

So here's the great axiom of life:

--To Have More Than You've Got, Become More Than You Are--

This is where you should focus most of your attention. Otherwise, you just might have to contend with the axiom of not changing, which is:

--Unless You Change How You Are, You'll Always Have What You've Got--

To Your Success,

One of Lifes Great Lessons - Learn to be Thankful for What You Already Have

(excerpted from the New Jim Rohn Weekend Event DVD/CD series)

Is thankfulness a survival skill? Perhaps most of you would respond with, "No, Jim, thankfulness is not key to survival", and I would tend to agree with you. Most of us have probably already solved the necessary problems of survival, gone beyond that and are now working to achieve our desires. But let me give you this key phrase, "Learn to be thankful for what you already have, while you pursue all that you want." I believe one of the greatest and perhaps one of the simplest lessons in life we can learn is to be thankful for what we have already received and accomplished.

Both the years and the experiences have brought me here to where I stand today, but it is the thankfulness that opened the windows of opportunities, of blessings, of unique experiences to flow my way. My gratitude starts with my parents who raised me, gave me an incredible foundation that has lasted me all of these years and continues with the mentors that I've met along the way who absolutely changed and revolutionized my life, my income, my bank account, my future. I am also very thankful for the people, the associations, for the ideas, for the chance to work and labor, and to produce results, all of that has brought me to this place, to this weekend. I'm grateful for it all.

What a unique opportunity each one of you here has, so many of us; representing different countries, nations and cultures, to appreciate the uniqueness of our own experiences that has brought us all here, together, for these three days to learn new skills and sharpen old ones. For the countries we represent; we have freedom and liberty. These are extraordinary times, about eleven years ago the walls came tumbling down, in Germany, and it started a wave of democracy and freedom like the world has never seen before. We as a country and as a world have so much to be thankful for. Always start with thanksgiving; be thankful for what you already have and see the miracles that come from this one simple act.

Now thankfulness is just the beginning; next, you've got to challenge yourself to produce. Produce more ideas than you need for yourself so you can share and give your ideas away. That is called fruitfulness and abundance. Here's what I think fruitfulness and abundance mean - to go to work on producing more than you need for yourself so you can begin blessing others, blessing your nation and blessing your enterprise. Once abundance starts to come, once someone becomes incredibly productive, it's amazing what the numbers turn out to be. But to begin this incredible process of blessing, it often starts with the act of thanksgiving and gratitude, being thankful for what you already have and for what you've already done. Begin the act of thanksgiving today and watch the miracles flow your way.

To Your Success,

Jim Rohn

Learn to Deal in Challenges

(Excerpted from the 2004 Jim Rohn Weekend Leadership Event)

To really help people in extraordinary ways, learn to deal in challenges. That is what sports is all about, challenges. That is what music is all about. The challenge to play so well, someone is inspired. The challenge to say it so well someone gets it. The challenge to be so gifted in language that someone sees it. Insight is unbelievable, only human beings can do this.

The man closes his eyes and puts his hands over his eyes and says, "I see it." You say, "No, you don't, you've got your eyes closed."

No.

There is more than one way to see.

And all someone has to do is to see an answer that they can start on immediately and within six months their life could start to multiple and change. Within one year, the difference will be extraordinary and a person who was lost now becomes a person of influence. Just because someone helped them to see for the moment what was wrong and the possibility to change it. And then the challenge to go do it and do it well.

Now here is the best challenge of all, "Let's go do it." Don't always say, "You go do it, you change", but rather, "Let's get healthy, let's go change the world, let's build an enterprise, let's work on this together." See I always respond better to, "Let's".

Sometimes it is hard to lift yourself out. It's hard to be self inspired at first, and if someone says, "Come on let's start a new program", "come on let's do exercises", "come on let's get healthy", "come on let's start something. I'll be there you be there and you bring a guest and I'll bring a guest, let's start something." That is so inspiring to have somebody say, "Let's, Let's do it. Let's build a team. Let's win the championship. Let's walk off with the trophy."

"Let's" - Wow, there is something about that that can keep you awake at nights. There is something about that that turns on the juices. There is something about that that reaches deep in the soul.

For a person that could do extraordinary things when somebody says, "Let's, Let's do it". I've got two with me already if you'll be the next one we can conquer the world." You say, "Whoa. Together nobody is a match for us."

By yourself you're vulnerable; but with us, nobody is a match. You say, "Wow! I want to belong to that team." So figure out ways to say, "Let's."

To Your Success,

Jim Rohn

Personal Development Legend Jim Rohn Turns 70 and Still Going Strong

Jim Rohn, noted leader and speaker in the personal development industry, recently celebrated his 70th birthday in international style - 21 birthday cakes in 15 different cities.

The worldwide birthday celebration began in Mexico City, complete with 2,000 people and a mariachi band. Rohn then traveled to Guadalajara and from there to India, including stops in Banglador, Delhi and Bombay. Portland, OR was next on the tour with a seminar squeezed into the festivities. Departing the US, Rohn arrived in Italy where he visited Naples, Cerrito and Rome before stopping in Tuscany for the actual birthday celebration. Rohn describes the memorable event, "I was in Tuscany at this fabulous villa, and the party lasted until 5:30 in the morning. It was incredible; the Italians know how to give a party! They start to sing a song - someone gets a guitar and accordion - and away they go singing all the operas and all the rest..."

After Italy it was on to Oslo, Norway and Bon, Germany. "I was there about 3 days... big celebration. We had almost 3,000 for that one. People came from all over Europe for training and the birthday revelries." Zurich, Switzerland, Cyprus and Tel Aviv followed completing the whirlwind tour. "All the countries and celebrations were so incredible," says Rohn. "I think it totaled about 21 cakes. Multiply that by all the candles on each cake... I'm all out of breath from blowing them out. I think it might be the longest birthday party ever, each country unique. It's a birthday I'll never forget."

Jim Rohn's 70th birthday marked 39 plus years of traveling and sharing his philosophies and principles for success to more than 5,000 audiences and 3 million people worldwide.

Rohn has been hailed over the years as a major influence to an entire generation of personal development trainers and speakers. Motivational speaker, Anthony Robbins, credits Rohn as his first mentor. Testimonials about Jim by other "greats" like Harvey Mackay, Les Brown, Mark Victor Hansen and Brian Tracy read like a "Who's Who" of the motivational world.

Rohn's beginnings were obscure at best, an only child raised in a small Idaho farming town. After a less than ambitious start, Jim, at age 25, met Earl Shoaff, a man that dramatically altered the course of his life. Shoaff is credited with introducing him to the concepts of personal development that helped him achieve personal and financial success. In addition, Rohn is quick to credit the teachings, wisdom and spiritual heritage learned from his parents as a major influence in his life.

Jim Rohn's own training centers around personal responsibility as well as personal growth. He encourages his audiences to not only work hard at their jobs but to also work hard on themselves. "You don't pursue success, you attract success by the person you become," he says. Rohn also adds, "The major key to your future is YOU, it's not the economy, not prices in the marketplace, not the government or even taxes."

Rohn is best known for his one-day seminar titled, "The Challenge to Succeed" and his two-day, weekend seminar, "Strategies for the 21st Century". Although both have evolved over the years, he maintains that the fundamentals principles, "the basics", never change. "21 years ago when a young Mark Hughes, founder of Herbalife, sat in my audience and 17 years ago when Anthony Robbins heard me speak, they heard the basic truths. There are no new fundamentals. Truth has not changed, our environment and how we function continually changes, but the basics do not. Summer always follows winter. It has been this way for the past 6,000 years of recorded history. So too are the fundamentals that govern success." says Rohn.

Although some on the "outside" might categorize Jim Rohn as a motivator or entertainer, he's quick to dispute this generalization. "My good friend, Zig Ziglar and I have had this running debate all these years. Zig says you must motivate people first, I say educate first. If you motivate an idiot, you now have a motivated idiot. Educate then motivate." Rohn credits Zig with being one of the all-time greats, not only as a speaker and motivator but also as a friend.

Jim Rohn, even at age 70, maintains a rigorous schedule traveling and speaking. This year includes 145 appearances combining both corporate clients and public seminars. In addition, he provides material for articles featured in his free weekly email newsletter. Rohn uses the Internet to reach thousands with his personal development message through both the website www.jimrohn.com and his email newsletter. His readership totals over 38,000 weekly subscribers in 100 countries. Although he receives thousands of requests for personal mentoring and advice from fans, he is not available for one-on-one coaching or counseling. Rohn instead uses seminars, audios and books as well as his newsletter to coach and counsel in large groups. "Now at age 70, I'm more aware than ever of the importance of time. I don't think in terms of 10, 20 or 30 years anymore but instead 10, 20 and 30 more summers or Christmas holidays with my family."

Although Jim looks forward to slowing his traveling pace in the future, he's not ready for that yet. "I feel like I'm 40 and am in incredible shape, which is a requirement when you travel internationally and work as much as I do." When we check back with Jim when he turns 80 to see if he's slowing down, we know we'll get the answer, "I'm booked." Like the late George Burns, Rohn has already booked himself to speak on his 100th birthday. Laughs Rohn, "That just might surpass my 70th birthday celebration..."

Mr. Shoaff's Simple Strategies to Success

(Excerpted from the Jim Rohn Sampler single CD)

My first mentor, Mr. Shoaff, over a six-year period from the time I was 25 to age 31, taught me some extraordinarily simple things, before his untimely passing at age 49. He only went through the 9th grade in school. He never finished high school, never went to college, never went to a university. So he put his experiences and ideas in very simple language, which, I think for me - kid from the farms of Idaho - was so important. When I would say, "This is all the company pays." Mr. Shoaff would say, "No, that is all they pay You." I thought, "That is a new to look at it." I told him things cost too much. But he said, "No, you can't afford them."

Well, that was a new concept for me. He promised that if I would improve, then I would qualify for more money. So I learned that we don't have to work on the company, we have to work on ourselves. Now if it had been technical, I would have missed it. If it had been mystic, I would have backed away. But it was just basic, blunt "a-b-c" stuff that I hadn't thought of before. For me it was the beginning of what he called "personal development".

Mr. Shoaff also taught me that life puts some of the more valuable things on the high shelf so that you can't get to them until you qualify. If you want the things on the high shelf, you must stand on the books you read. With every book you read, you get to stand a little higher.

And the "biggie" that forever had an impact on me, "Success is something you attract by the person you become." That phrase changed my life. Success is not to be pursued, but to be attracted by the person you become. Put your energy into becoming a better you, the best you. Learn the skills. Practice the skills. Attract the success.

Those few simple strategies and ideas helped change my life, forever, for the better. Thank you, once again, Mr. Shoaff.

To Your Success,

Jim Rohn

Top 10 Lessons From Anthony Robbins

Tony Robbins (pet name), gives 10 instant Life Transforming Lessons. These are the lessons used by millions all over the globe, given by Anthony Robbins.

1) By altering your body’s physiology, you can achieve an immediate change of your emotional state. The mind will follow whatever state your physical body is in and not vice-versa.

2) Ask specific questions of yourself (in your self-talk) to direct and control your attention to the various aspects of the human experience. The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the quality of the questions you ask of yourself.

3) Get leverage to create personal change by associating an old behavior with massive pain and the desired new behavior with massive pleasure. Tony is a big believer in the pain/pleasure principles of life and this applies in business as well.

4) When you get stuck, interrupt your limiting pattern by doing something totally unexpected.

5) You can condition your behavior by visualizing it over and over again. This is not exactly unique to Tony Robbins, but he does reinforce this message in all of his products.

6) Goal-setting strategy: Know your end outcome; Take massive intelligent action; Have sensory-acuity to notice if you are getting the results you desire and if not; change your approach; and change *until* you get your end outcome.

7) Create a “Compelling future” by vividly imagining your end result to generate enthusiasm and power within yourself. The past does not equal the future. Find beliefs that support your goals and desires.

8) Youth is Power! This is one of Tony’s beliefs. Even if you don’t have fancy degrees, your youth can still mean power, flexibility and opportunity for your life.

9) Principles of CANI! CANI stands for Constant And Never-ending Improvement. It’s a basic tenet of Tony Robbins.

10) NLP can be useful. NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and there are many NLP undertones in Tony’s basic tenets. He went on to morph NLP into his own technology called “NAC” (Neuro Associative Conditioning).

Think and Grow Rich

Napoleon Hill wrote the book “Think and Grow Rich”. It holds the distinction of being one of the number one bestsellers of all time! It dwells on self-development, which Hill called “the Philosophy of Achievement”. He said he knew the secret of achievement, and yet he never specifically unveiled in his writings. He felt it was up to the reader to work it out for him or herself. In this way the eventual “Eureka” would prove to be a much more significant learning experience than having the information spoon fed, piece by piece.

The birth of this monumental writing project that was in the fullness of time to turn into “Think and Grow Rich”, commenced in 1908 when Hill was assigned to interview steel magnate and multi-millionaire Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie was insistent that the secret of success could be spelled out via a simple formula that most people would find easy to replicate. As a result of the meeting, in which he was so impressed by Hill that he commissioned him to question 500 successful people to ascertain whether his and their success secrets were the same. If they were, he charged Napoleon Hill to publish the results for the entire world to see!

To complete the project Hill interviewed many of the rich and famous of the day. His list of subjects included Thomas Edison, telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell, camera manufacturer Thomas Eastman, automobile producer Henry Ford, a Rockefeller, candy tycoon Wrigley, Woolworth and American Presidents Teddy Roosevelt, Roosevelt’s successor William Taft and his follow on Woodrow Wilson. The author quickly discovered he had embraced an enormous task. A work that was to take him twenty years to complete. In 1928 Carnegie and Hill wrote a book and published the results in “The: Law of Success.”

Hill later distilled the success formula and this became the international bestseller “Think and Grow Rich” which came out in 1937. The book has sold more than 30 million copies since it initially appeared. This success prescription is a version of the famous “Carnegie Secret”. This Hill was told if taught to students would cut the time spent in school by half. The author described it as “a conception which is the foundation of all success.” He reiterates the secret in every chapter of the book, but in an oblique fashion.

What is their secret? For starters.”What you focus on you will attract.” This attraction is like magnetism and will bring the people and opportunities into your life to make the goal possible. It is important that your have fire in the belly and all consuming desire to meet the objective. If your desire is great enough then nothing can stop you achieving your goal! He called this phenomenon “the law of like minded attraction”. There is a codicil, however, and that dictates the desire must be for the greater good of all. Moreover, Hill stresses that those who are prepared to use this formula in their lives will achieve riches in many forms. Several people who have followed the teachings of “Think and Grow Rich” have become phenomenally successful including the billionaire Arthur Wiilliams.

Perhaps, you too have discovered some secrets about the infallible laws of the Universe that have changed your life and you feel could help others in a similar way to Hill’s revelations in “Think and Grow Rich.” Perhaps, the time has come to embark on that project and change your life to quote Napoleon Hill: ”Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe it can achieve!”

Success Secret: Work & Grow Rich!

Undoubtedly, you’ve come across these wealth-building expressions:

“Nobody ever got rich working for a living.”

“Nobody ever got rich working for somebody else.”

“I’d rather work smarter than harder!”

If you were to build these notions into book titles, you just might come up with a monster best-seller like THINK & GROW RICH or THE LAZY MAN’S WAY TO RICHES.

But are these notions true? Is striking out on your own the best way to get rich or to strike out?

Look at the career of Mr. Eisner, Chairman of The Walt Disney Company. Years ago, he cut a deal for some hefty stock options instead of a large, set salary.

And by doing so, one year, he earned over $40 million, which even after taxes, qualified him as “rich.”

He worked for a living, and worked for somebody else, too, but that didn’t stop him from amassing wealth.

Lots of other CEO’s are also members of the “working rich.”

I don’t know where hacks get the idea that you can just dream your way to success; that lofty goals and self-affirmations will, by themselves, take you from rags to riches.

There is a beautiful film that you can check out on video, “Local Hero,” about a corporate climber who is sent to Scotland to negotiate oil development rights. He encounters a beachcomber who lives in a shack so small that to enter, you have to climb through a window.

This gent, Mr. Knox, actually OWNS the stretch of beach on which his shack sets, and that beach is worth a ton to the interested oil company.

But Mr. Knox doesn’t want to sell because, as he puts it, “This beach is my living; I work it. Everyone has to work!”

Technically, he’s rich, and if he’ll just say yes to the oil man's offer, he won’t have to work. He can be idle.

But Knox's wealth isn’t the value of his beach, but is found in his attitude, that work is good, proper, and really inescapable.

So, if you want an affirmation, perhaps you should choose this one:

“The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

In the meantime, don't be surprised if the next book I write is titled: WORK & GROW RICH!

The Best Selling Self-Help Book Of All Time - And No I'm Not Talking About The Bible!

Think & Grow Rich is said to be the most widely read self-development book in history. First published in 1937 it has sold over 7 million copies and 60 years later it continues to be a best-seller worldwide. It has been dubbed as 'the book that launched a million millionaires.'

This book should be an essential part of every high school and college curriculum throughout the world. Your education isn't complete without reading this epic book.

For years I resisted reading Think & Grow Rich because the title seemed like a whole lot of wishful thinking to me. I mean you can't just think and grow rich, can you? Oh yes, you can. But not mere 'thinking' in the traditional sense. What we're talking about here is a whole new mindset, a paradigm shift, if you will. The book teaches 13 essential steps to riches - the steps you need to take if you want to become wealthy and successful.

The entire philosophy of the book can be summed up in one powerful line " Whatever your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve."

If you haven't read Think and Grow Rich yet, then I urge you to do so now. Don't put it off for another minute. Think and Grow Rich is in the public domain and a search on Google for 'free Think and Grow Rich e-book' will yield dozens of web sites where you download the book at no cost.

Read it, make notes and most of all apply the 13 principles contained in it and prepare to be amazed at the results.

There's a Fortune in Failure

It took Thomas Edison over a thousand tries to get the light bulb just right. Yet how many of us give up if we don't nail something perfectly the first time out? The best baseball hitters in the game fail approximately two out of every three times they step up to the plate. Still, how many of us won't step up and try something new unless we can be assured of success first? The problem is how we think about ourselves in relation to failure and its consequences. In this article, I'm going to challenge you to change the way you think about failure, and, in the process, change the way you think about yourself.

Failure can be the fast track to success if you recognize and use it the right way. It's all in how you choose to size it up. Following are five ways to think about failure, and how to manage it. Embracing these concepts will help insure your long-term success in all of your endeavors, both in business and in life.

Define failure as learning. When a toddler falls down, do we say, "Man, they really messed up!" or rather "Wonderful, they're learning to walk!" Yet when we fall down - blow the sales pitch, get passed over for promotion, lose our jobs, for example - often we exclaim, "I failed!" Worse yet, we may define ourselves as failures. Better to view failure as a temporary and necessary step on the way to where you want to be. Just like falling down is a predictable and inevitable process for the toddler learning to walk, so too are occasional failures along the way to success in whatever you attempt. In fact, it's hard to improve if you don't fail, because failure delineates clearly where the opportunities for improvement lie. So, when you do fall down, don't label yourself a failure. Instead, recover quickly from the temporary disappointment by asking "What can I learn from this? What worked and what didn't? How can I do it better next time?" Then, follow the toddler's example: get up with a smile on your face and try again, knowing you are better for the experience.

Manage expectations, yours and theirs. Sometimes the problem with failure lies in unrealistic expectations when trying something new. We expect everyone to embrace the new strategy after a single roll out meeting. We expect the new model-year car to perform as well as the old one that hadn't changed for several years. We assume customers will flock to our latest and greatest product immediately. Rarely, however, are such scenarios the case. John Kotter tells us leaders exponentially under-communicate the need for change. Newly revised product lines often have bugs, and wary customers often have to be convinced over time that what we offer meets their needs and interests. Perception about failure on the back end can be reduced or eliminated by managing expectations on the front-end. Begin new ventures with optimism tempered by realism, and help your constituents - colleagues and customers - do the same. Anticipate there will be problems, and let everyone know you will be ready to solve them. That way, when problems do arise, they will help reinforce your credibility versus damage it. And, problems won't lead you and others to assume you've failed. Rather, problems will be viewed for what they are - road signs pointing the way to progress.

Stop trying to be perfect. Sports psychologist Bob Rotella wrote a helpful little book called Golf is not a Game of Perfect. Golf is not a game of perfect, and neither is business nor just about any other venture you might imagine. Trying to be perfect can keep you from trying new and untested methods for reaching your goals. The valuable experiments that ultimately will lead to success will never happen if you are afraid to attempt them in the first place. In a vain attempt at perfection, we might freeze up and keep whatever natural talent we have from taking over. Rather than strive for perfection, strive for action; bold, resolute action in the direction of your goals. You can make mid-course corrections as you go, but you'll never have the chance if you never get started. Aiming for perfection is fine; expecting it, however, is unrealistic. Let your unrealistic expectations of perfection go and your results will start to flow.

Manage fear before it manages you. Perhaps nothing holds us back as much as fear. Fear is our natural protection against threats to our physical survival. Too often however, fear gets triggered when physical survival is not an issue. No one is gong to die if his or her promotion doesn't come through. Physical harm won't follow if your idea gets shot down at a meeting. You won't lose an appendage if you return from your sales call empty-handed (depending on your boss, that is!) Heck, even getting fired doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Just because fear often gets triggered in these situations doesn't mean you have to succumb to it. Gather yourself, take a deep breath, tell yourself you're okay, and go about taking your next step forward, whatever it may be. Don't let your autonomic nervous system convince you're about to get eaten by a tiger when you're not. Learn to control your fear or it will end up controlling you.

Stay in the moment. What if? can be a very useful question for anticipating scenarios and stirring creativity. "What if we doubled market share next quarter? What if we could take the best aspects of our competitor's products and roll them into ours? What if we could use our expertise to aid the less fortunate in our community?" Good questions all. Unfortunately, too often our internal dialogue goes more like this: "What if I say something dumb at the meeting and everyone laughs and decides I'm stupid? What if the economy takes a turn for the worse? What if we get bought out and I lose my job?" We begin to imagine negative What If scenarios and put so much mental energy into them that we have little left over for more positive endeavors, and failures mount. To counter this trend, notice when you are becoming anxious. Then, notice your thoughts. Likely, you have mentally raced ahead to some scary place that doesn't exist. Bring yourself back to the here and now. Ask yourself, "What's going on right here, right now?" It's likely not nearly as bad as what you were imagining. Dealing with the realities of the moment will help you avoid creating unnecessary failures in the future.

A Final Word
If fear of failure is holding you back from pursuing your dreams or accomplishing your goals, challenge yourself to think again. Specifically, rethink how you think about failure itself, and its relationship to your self-concept. Often, failure is the first and necessary step toward discovering our fortune; it points the way to success. Perhaps Henry Ford put it best: "Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently."

Personal Development - A Lifelong Journey

I heard lots of people asking almost the same question, perhaps with different paraphrasing and it goes like this. "How can I become wealthy and happy?" The most common answer will be "Work harder so that you can make more money!" Well, I will most probably probe further by asking "What do you work harder on?" I guess you will most probably say "Isn't that obvious? It should be on your job!" Well, it is true if you are contended with a life of mediocrity. If you want to live a life of richness and success, then you ought to learn to work harder on yourself than you do it on your job. That is when personal development makes its grand entrance to your life.

I must admit that working on personal development has been the most challenging task of my life because it is an indefinite process. Once you are in personal development education, it will stay with you lifelong and only stops on the day we die. There is nothing we can refute on. You see the importance of personal development education has on our entire life. That is why we see people die at the age of 21 but only get buried at the age of 65. These are the groups of person without going through proper personal development education.

A lot of people have goals and dreams of what they are going to get and they plan and strategise working towards their goals. In fact, we have failed to realise one thing which is the most important in personal development education. It is not about what we are getting but rather what we are becoming to is far more important. The reason being so is simple. When you become the person you want to be, getting what you want usually comes along with it. They compliment each other. Just like a successful businessman earns millions or billions in his business. The money come naturally when you become a successful businessman.

Why does every successful businessman make money? Have you heard of any successful business who does not make money? Does making money equate success to you? What do I mean by all these questions? In fact, I am highlighting the importance of personal development which has a knitted impact in finance management. Personal development encompasses a wide area and finance literacy and management is just a certain part of it. Without proper training in financial management, that explains why people who strike billions of dollars in lottery claimed they were not the least happy after which or declares bankrupt faster than anyone would have thought of. Therefore, personal development is where you should focus most in your life otherwise you might just have to contend with mediocrity.

Personal development is not only about financial literacy and management, it also encompasses relationship establisment, health, family, love, spiritual and many more. If you want to know the secret attitudes, techniques, methods and strategies that, when applied, will skyrocket your success in virtually every area of your life, you have to visit http://www.earnwhilesleep.com/successuniversity.html right away. Top 10 Prosperity Tips

By Wendy Betterini

Living a prosperous life is about much more than just having enough money. In order to be truly prosperous, you need to change your total mind-set from lack to abundance. You need to make a mental and emotional shift and start living your life on a more abundant level - in all areas!

Below are my top 10 tips for doing that:

Prosperity Tip #1 - Do What You Love

When you spend time doing things you really love, you automatically feel happier. When you feel happier, you emit more positive vibrations, and attract the things you want more quickly and easily! Start spending more time doing the things you really love. This can include hobbies as well as transitioning to a more fulfilling career.

Prosperity Tip #2 - Affirm You Always Have More Than Enough

The more you focus on lack, the more lack you will experience in your life. Turn this around by constantly affirming, "I always have more than enough money for everything I need." The more strongly you can come to believe this, the more your physical surroundings will shift to match your expectations.

Prosperity Tip #3 - Take Action

Action isn't always necessary in order to attract abundance into your life, but it sure doesn't hurt. Don't sit around waiting for your circumstances to change - get out there and change them! Taking even one small step toward what you want can often trigger a flood of opportunities and synchronicities that get everything moving in a more positive direction. At the very least, taking action can boost your confidence and make you feel more in control of your circumstances.

Prosperity Tip #4 – Gratitude and Appreciation

An appreciative mind-set makes everything seem better. Not only do you feel more abundant, your very focus on the positive aspects of your life will naturally attract more things to be grateful for. Make it a daily habit to appreciate the wonderful things that happen to you - even the small things. The more you do, the more you'll find good stuff flowing into your life as if by magic.

Prosperity Tip #5 - Love, Love, Love

Love is one of the most powerful, transformational forces. It can heal the most painful situations, transform lack into abundance, and inspire positive change in both the giver and receiver. Practice flowing feelings of deep love for everyone and everything in your life. Love your blessings, your friends and family, the difficult people you encounter each day, and even your illnesses and obstacles. When you love them, you heal and transform them into genuine blessings.

Prosperity Tip #6 - Boost Your Self-Worth

Your beliefs have everything to do with the things you experience on a daily basis. If you don't believe you deserve abundance, you will continually push it away! Start improving your self-worth and affirm constantly that you deserve to be happy, healthy and wealthy. When someone tries to give you a gift or compliment, accept it with gratitude! The more you do this, the more you will open yourself to the blessings the universe wants to send your way too.

Prosperity Tip #7 - Make Room for More

If every nook and cranny of your life is crammed with clutter and disharmony, you've got no ROOM for prosperity to come in! One of the quickest ways to get abundance flowing more smoothly through your life is to clear a space for it. Get rid of physical clutter and release painful emotional burdens and unresolved issues. Clean up your physical, spiritual, emotional and financial affairs, and watch how easily they are transformed from stagnant to vibrant.

Prosperity Tip #8 - Change Your Beliefs, Change Your Life

Besides poor self-worth, you may have other limiting beliefs that keep you from experiencing the prosperity you deserve. For example, do you believe you must work hard to receive a lot of money? Do you believe that rich people are rude and insensitive? Do you believe that having a lot of money would be a burden? Learn to examine and question your beliefs about prosperity - and change the ones that limit you. This is an ongoing process that can change your life in powerful ways.

Prosperity Tip #9 - Fire Up Your Abundance Radar

You've probably heard it said that whatever you focus on expands. Prosperity is no different! Get into the habit of seeking examples of abundance wherever you go. When you're shopping, pause to notice the abundance overflowing from store shelves. Each one of those products began with a simple idea in someone's mind and was created in physical form! Take a trip to your local farmer's market and marvel at the abundance of produce available. Each one of them was started with a tiny seed planted in the ground and nurtured until it grew into a luscious fruit or vegetable. Take time each day to reflect on the abundance you see all around you, and you will attract more of it (in all forms) into your life.

Prosperity Tip #10 - Positively Abundant

Positive thoughts and emotions will automatically attract more positive circumstances into your life, including prosperity! Negative thinking is nothing more than a habit of looking at the less favorable aspects of every situation. But every negative situation has at least ONE positive benefit. The more you can train your mind to look for the blessings and remain open to possibility, the more blessings and possibilities you will see! Start a new positive thinking habit today and watch how it transforms you into a magnet for everything good.

There are many more ways to attract greater prosperity into your life, but these tips offer a simple way to get started.

Abraham Lincoln once said, "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." The very same thing could be said about prosperity.

Make up your mind to be as prosperous as you want to be . . . and your perception of reality will have no choice but to comply with your wishes.

Timing In Goal-Setting

By Wendy Betterini

When most of us set goals, we hold an expectation that everything will work out as planned. We have this picture in our minds of a smooth process from start to finish, easily achieving our goals without a hitch. This is especially true when it comes to the timing of our desired results!

Let's face it; we wouldn't be setting goals in the first place if we didn't believe they were possible to achieve. Even if we expect a fair amount of difficulty in reaching our goals, we usually don't expect to encounter major delays and setbacks.

Early in the game an optimistic mind-set can be a strong benefit because it gives us high confidence and strength to push through any preliminary obstacles that appear before us.
However, as more and more time passes and our desired results aren't showing up - or worse, we continue to experience problem after problem, our determination begins to wane. We wonder what we've gotten ourselves into. We wonder if we were crazy to think we could accomplish something so difficult!

Most importantly, we forget that there is one little aspect to any goal that is often beyond our control: timing.

As much as we might like our results to show up quickly and easily, that is not always how it happens. When we find ourselves stuck, we have three choices: We can strengthen our focus and put forth a stronger quality of energy toward our desired outcome; we can build up our resolve to work through obstacles more persistently, or we can wait patiently for the timing to be exactly right.

That last one is the stickler! We don't like to feel out of control, especially where our own lives are concerned. We don't like feeling that there is some mysterious "force out there" controlling what happens to us.

There is no easy answer for why results don't appear when we expect them to. Each situation is different, as is each goal and the person setting it.

When this happens to you, the important question to ask is not WHY it happens but what you will do when it does.

Will you shove through obstacles with vicious determination? Will you find an easier path to your goal? Or will you wait patiently for obstacles to dissolve in their own time?

There are no right or wrong answers to these questions; only what you choose for yourself.

Like most people, you may find that certain outcomes cannot be rushed. No matter how hard you push, you will not be able to move forward until the timing is right.

In situations like these, hindsight usually reveals clear reasons why you could not move ahead until the timing was exactly right.

Perhaps you needed to wait for the assistance of someone who could provide the right opportunity to move ahead. Maybe you weren't emotionally ready to handle the responsibilities of your desired outcome and once you did some more work on your personal development, all obstacles simply melted away.

There are endless possibilities for why the timing may not be right, but what can you do when you find yourself stuck?

Two of the most beneficial steps have proven to be:

1) Do what you can. Remain open to the possibilities, re-evaluate your plans and see if you can make improvements or adjustments.

2) At the same time, be willing to detach from the exact timing of the outcome. This is not easy, but it can open up many doors for you!

When you let go of trying to force something into being, you automatically decrease the pressure that deadlines place upon you. Because you feel more relaxed, you are better able to focus and awaken your creative thinking process. Through this creative insight, you may accidentally discover the perfect solution to your problem, or at least have more fun exploring possible workarounds.

In the end, the length of time needed to achieve your goals is not nearly as important as the delicious satisfaction you get from seeing them through to the end.

And when that day arrives, you'll believe only one thing: it was well worth the wait.

Unleash The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind

Unleash The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind
Have you ever asked yourself, `Why don't I have the life
that I dreamed of as a child'? Why don't I have more
money, better health or, well, you fill in the blank. Many
people today are searching for the answers to these
questions. They want change but are unaware of how to
implement changes. I was one of these people.

In my search for answers, I came across information about
the mind and how it really works. There are two aspects to
the mind, the conscious mind and the unconscious mind.
When most people think about the mind, they picture the
brain. The thinking mind is much more than that. The
conscious mind is sometimes referred to as the rational
mind. It gathers information through sensory input. The
subconscious mind gathers information through emotional
input.

The conscious mind can accept or reject any idea. The
conscious mind uses the five senses to accept or reject
information. We have the ability to decide if we believe
something to be fact or fiction through the use of the
conscious mind. We also have the ability to change what we
believe at the conscious level. Have you ever repeated a
saying that you heard as a child without really
understanding the emotional connection to that saying? I
sure have! I grew up in a lower middle class environment
where money was not abundant. I remember my mother saying,
`money doesn't grow on trees', many times. As an adult I
repeated this saying because I believed that you must work
hard and save your money to live a satisfying life.
Because I believed this, my conscious mind accepted it as
fact. Be careful what you accept as fact!

Now let's move to the subconscious mind. This area is
sometimes referred to as the emotional mind or intuitive
mind. This area has no ability to reject any idea
presented to it. It cannot differentiate between real or
fake. It accepts whatever you believe on an emotional
level. In the above example I emotionally believed that
abundance came through hard work and frugal living. What I
did not understand then was the imprint that I had placed
on my subconscious mind. Whatever is impressed on the
subconscious mind controls your vibration. You see, the
body is a mass of molecules vibrating at a very high rate.
When we believe in lack, we vibrate at a low level. When
we believe in abundance, we vibrate higher. With these
thoughts of lack and struggle, I lowered my vibration
resulting in lowered results. We need a higher vibration
in order to attract the abundance that our higher power
wants us to have.

Maybe you know of someone who is always unhappy, unhealthy
and broke. Do you feel good being around them? Do they
lift your energy? Of course not! They have a low level of
vibration and it can be very draining. On the other side,
isn't it uplifting to be around a genuinely happy, healthy
and positive person? Yes! They bring your energy level up.

To have permanent changes in our lives, we must change the
thinking of our subconscious mind. If you want to be
successful, you must know how to unleash the hidden power
of your subconscious mind. So how do we do this? There
are four steps to complete the process.

The first step involves your thoughts. You must become
aware of what you are thinking about by listening to the
little voices that run through your mind. What are they
saying? Do they start with words like can't, won't or
shouldn't? Remember that thoughts are units of energy.
Are your thoughts vibrating at a high level or low level?
The most effective way to change these thoughts is with
positive affirmations. Remember that your subconscious
mind has no ability to reject an idea that you believe. So
write out your affirmation in the present tense for
whatever you desire and keep it positive. Bob Proctor
taught me to start by saying, `I am so happy and grateful
now that…' Gratitude is very important in this process as
well. At the very least, be grateful that you have become
aware of your negative thoughts because now you can change
them! Another powerful tool is visualization. Our mind
sees in pictures. If you create a board with pictures of
all the things that you want to attract into your life,
they will come. You must place this board in a place where
you can view it several time a day. Visualization is the
language of your subconscious mind and intuition is how
your subconscious mind communicates with you. Affirmations
and visualization will change your thoughts.

The second step is internalizing the emotions involved with
what you want to attract. When you have the things that
you desire in your life, how will you feel? Most people
fail to unleash the hidden power of their subconscious mind
simply because they never spend time thinking through what
they really want in life and then allowing the emotions to
become real. Picture yourself walking through the front
door of your new home or behind the wheel of your new car.
How do you feel? Allow these emotions to grow. When you
look at your picture board, smile. When you read your
affirmations, stand and shout them out. Convince your
subconscious mind that you have what you want from life and
you will.

The third step involves action. This is the step that is
most neglected. You need to move in the direction of your
dreams to achieve them. This step usually involves your
intuition or gut feeling. When you are effectively
implementing steps one and two, you will find that ideas or
thoughts just come to you. This is the universe telling
you which direction to go. Listen to these thoughts and
act. You will also find that phone calls or emails will
come at just the right time. Act on them. Coincidence is
just the universe communicating with you. Take action and
you will achieve your dreams. The most important part of
this step is to not worry about how to achieve something.
The universe will take care of the how. The how will be
attracted to you through the subconscious mind, so listen.

The fourth and final step involves your results. Always
analyze your results. How is that working for you, an
infamous Dr. Phil line. If your results are poor, change
your course. It you feel good about your results, keep
moving in that direction.

Once you learn how to unleash the unlimited power of your
subconscious mind, you will receive anything that you want
from life. Solutions to problems will present themselves,
income will increase and your giving spirit will grow.

Think and Grow Rich

Author: Elise Fisher

This book teaches that an individual doesn't have to be a genius to make millions of dollars. Any person can become wealthy if he thinks positively and has a deep desire to accomplish his or her goal.

Thinking Positively "If you do not see great riches in your imagination you will never see them in your bank account." Hill. You must visualize your financial dreams and believe that you can get them.

You must already own them. If you begin making up every excuse under the sun why you cannotsucceed, pinch yourself. Train your mind to think positive thoughts. You can obtain success, even if you are not the smartest, most talented, or most attractive person in the world.

Success is waiting for you and thinking positively will allow success to enter your life. Don't underestimate the power ofyour thoughts. Burning Desire: Hill recounts a true tale of one man Edwin Barnes who wanted to be Thomas Edison's partner.

Many ofus would have scoffed at him if we had lived in his time. Edwin Barnes was a nobody. Nevertheless, he had a deep desire, aconsuming obsession, and he was determined. He traveled to Thomas Edison and convinced him to hire him. He did not immediately achieve his goal, but he worked hard and ultimately became Thomas Edison's partner.

Edwin Barnes used these seven steps to achieve success: 1. Choose a definite dream. 2. Place all your energy into that goal. 3. Be willing to do menial work at first. 4. Visualize your dream. See it in your mind. 5. Create a plan. 6. Stick it out. 7. Eliminate any possibility of retreat. As you focus on obtaining your goals, answer these questions:What is the exact amount of money I want? What am I willing tosacrifice for it? What date do I want it by? What's my plan? Remember, to successful people, there is no such thing as"defeat." What looks like defeat is no more than a awe someopportunity. Start becoming successful today! NOTE: Use of this article requires links to be intact.

The Power Behind Personal Development

Author: Michael McGrath

The Power Behind Personal Development
A key concept in Personal Development involves
accountability or taking full responsibility. In a world
where "the blame game" rules supreme, this concept is hard
for many to grasp and even harder to implement.

From birth to the present day all of us have been bombarded
with negativity. Your parents raised you the best way they
could but in many ways this was like "the blind leading the
blind". They, as imperfect people, did an imperfect job.
Your teachers tried to direct you as best they could with a
flawed educational system as imperfect human beings also.
Peers, hurting from emotional traumas, ridiculed and
belittled you in the playground and beyond. Peer pressure
has left you with emotional scars that just won`t seem to
heal.

There are a thousand reasons that can be given for your
present position in life, your outlook and your lack of
belief in yourself. However, "a journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step", Old Chinese Adage. In personal
development that single, and most important, step is
accountability or taking full responsibility for your life.
To begin your steps and journey on the path to success it
is of paramount importance to take accountability for the
decisions, actions and thoughts that have lead you to where
you currently are. You must stop blaming others for the way
you feel, for the state of your life and your
circumstances. Whatever has happened to you in the past,
both real and imagined, is in the past. Your power is
always in the present.

Not matter how hard you try or how much you moan, complain
and feel regretful you simple cannot change the past. You
must fully accept that it occurred and accept that you are
who you are now and you are where you are now because of
your own decisions and actions. Eliminate the need to blame
others, circumstances or your environment for your
problems. Take full responsibility for your life and you
will release within you your own infinite potential.

Playing the blame game gets you nowhere and strips you of
the ability to move forward. If others are to blame for
your current circumstances then how can you hope to change
these circumstances? If, on the other hand, it is you who
is fully responsible for your life then it is you who can
change it! No need to rely on the kind gestures of others
or the magnanimous offerings of you peers, you can take
control of the situation and direct it as you see fit. No
matter how hard you try you cannot control the actions of
others for any length of time and you cannot manipulate the
world to act in accordance with your wishes. Of course that
doesn't mean you can't change your personal world. It just
means you can't control the world or its occupants. You
must merely direct yourself along the flow of life and pick
a river that is running in the direction you want to go.

We are told in numerous religious teachings that we were
made in the image and likeness of The Creator. God-force
resides within each and everyone of us. This means we have
access to infinite resources and infinite power. Your
infinite power has expression in the physical world through
your decision or intention.

There is a desire within everyone to better their life.
This desire takes different forms and has different
objectives but we all have it. Many have been carrying
these desires their entire lives never getting close to
realising them. If we are all connected to the Source of
all things, being made in the likeness and image of our
Creator, where do you think that desire originates?

You would not be given desires and the yearning to better
yourself and your life if it were not possible to achieve
same. You were not put here to struggle. You came to
overcome challenges and to enjoy the journey of life. You
were given the tools to achieve anything you want and those
tools reside within you.

Start with ambition! Decide that you can and will reach
your goals because you now know that you are responsible
for the direction your life takes and no-one else.

Create a vision that will stoke the fires of your
enthusiasm. A vision that means something to only you.
Something you have always wanted to achieve, be or do. A
vision that lights your very soul when you think of it. Set
your intention to achieve it. You are responsible. This is
your vision for the future. This is the vision of your
perfect life.

Now set stepping stone goals. Goals that once achieved have
brought you that bit closer to your vision. Always set a
goal that will take some effort to achieve but that does
not seem so impossible that you will get discouraged and
quit.

Write down your vision and your goals. Make statements that
reflect positive outcomes as though they have already
happened i.e. "I am extremely grateful now that I own my
own successful business".

Never frame the statement in negative terms or in a way
that reflects the "wanting" of the goal. "Wanting" is a
confirmation of lack! When you want something you are
telling yourself that you don't have it!

Let's take an example - your vision states that you want
harmony in your home. You decide that the area you are
living in is having a negative affect on your children due
to their peers and environment. You decide that a good
stepping stone goal would be to move to a better area. In
order to do this you decide you need to find a better job
to pay for the house. To find a better job you may need to
go to night classes etc. Each goal should build the
previous one.

Let's return to the example of the house. You set one of
your stepping stone goals to buy a house in a better area,
let's call this area "The Keys". You would not state your
goal in negative terms i.e., "I don't want to live here
anymore" or place your goal in the future, i.e., "I will
live in a 5 bedroom house in The Keys". You would phrase it
positively and in the present, i.e., "I live in a 5 bedroom
house in The Keys".

Be sure to set a reasonable deadline for your goal. One
that will make you stretch to achieve it but that is not
totally unrealistic. As you progress in your own personal
development and begin to access and realise the true power
of your intentions and thoughts your deadlines can get
closer and your goals will get bigger. For example, "It is
[write future date] and I live in a 5 bedroom house in The
Keys."

Read this statement twice a day. Morning and night.
Visualize your goal and then your vision as being real in
the here and now. In order to do this successfully you need
to get specific. The more specific your goal is, the faster
you will achieve it. What colour are the carpets in those 5
bedrooms? Is the entrance hall tiled? Perhaps you have
wooden floors. What size is the garden? Is there a garage?

Now that you have set your goal it is necessary to
calculate the best way of achieving it. Don't worry if you
can't think of a way of achieving your vision or the path
to your goal may be a little hazy at the minute. Taking
small steps will lead to other opportunities and a way will
be shown to you. However, for now let's assume you know how
to get to your goal. Set out small tasks that you can take
everyday that will bring you that little bit closer to your
objective. Schedule these steps. This is where a "one page
to one day" diary is invaluable. These small easy to manage
and perform tasks are the concrete on your road to success.
Take them everyday and you cannot fail to reach your goal.
As you progress your goals will get bigger, your deadlines
shorter, your diary fuller, your tasks more adventurous and
your life richer!
