Positive Thinking Quotes

Positive Thinking Quotes

Positive Thinking Quotes
By Ian K Lewis

Positive thinking quotes are ideal sources for inspiration and courage in your personal life. When you read them, you not only feed your mind with positive energy, but you also grab nuggets of wisdom from the greatest men and women who ever lived. For almost any situation, you'll find that there is always an appropriate saying, adage or quotation for your benefit. When you collect positive thinking quotes, it's like building your own personal library of motivating thoughts. You may not be able to read and digest all the quotes in one sitting, but you can always refer to them when you're feeling down and needing an emotional boost.

Collecting positive thinking quotes takes some focus and mental alertness at first. But when you are truly in search of positive ideas, you will discover that the world we live in is full of encouraging thoughts. Therefore, you must always be aware of the world around you. Make an effort to take mental note of positive sayings you hear in your daily life. If possible, write down motivational quotes when you hear them being spoken by someone, or when you see them in print. This kind of mental alertness and openness to positive ideas will train your senses to filter negative thoughts. It will allow you to erase feelings of low self esteem and replace your mindset with a positive outlook.

A relatively easier way to gain access to positive thinking quotes is to get yourself a good quotation reference book. These types of books are available in almost every major bookstore, and contain compilations of popular, proven and time tested sayings. A lot of these books have the quotations arranged systematically in various categories such as theme and author name. Thus, using a quotation reference book allows you to easily find the perfect quote that fits your unique situation. It's also a good way to add spice to your communication skills. For example, if you're aspiring to become an effective public speaker, you can use positive quotes to inspire your audience and finish your speeches on a high note.

When reading positive thinking quotes, don't just skim through them and finish them in a hurry. The power of positive quotes is not in the words used, but in how you comprehend those words and assimilate them into your subconscious. Your mind will benefit more if you take time to internalize positive ideas. If possible, learn and discover the background story behind every quotation. This will add more meaning to the nuggets of motivation you are reading. For example, a lot of people are familiar with the saying, "I can't accept failure without trying". But if you're aware that the person who originally said those words is Michael Jordan, and you're fully aware of the challenges and circumstances that he faced in his career, the quotation would have a deeper meaning to you. That's why it's important to read quotes and sayings intently, in between the lines.

Acquiring and sustaining a positive mindset is a lifelong task that requires focus and persistence, but it will reward you with happiness, peace of mind, and the fulfillment of your goals in life. If you make it a habit to extract juices of positive ideas around you, your thoughts will constantly improve for the better. Make a consistent effort to eliminate negativity from your thoughts. Change your mindset: because by doing so, you also change your destiny.

Heartbreak Quotes to Get Over Sad Love

Heartbreak Quotes to Get Over Sad Love

Heartbreak Quotes to Get Over Sad Love
By George Nester

Living with heartbreak after the love has gone is not easy; however reading heartbreak quotes can help you to get this phase sooner and get back to the right track. For instance this sad love quote: "Sometimes the memories are worth the pain." You can learn a lot from those few words.

The first lesson is that a relationship is something valuable, so important that it affects us in few ways: we have good memories about it; it worth the sadness in the end and finally it is something that we all look for. The second point of view is happy love versus sad love. When the relationship has started the person who wrote this heartbreak quote was very happy and thought it will last forever. However in the end he realized that he was wrong and it didn't last as much as he wanted. Still there is also an optimistic point of view because the end of one relationship is an opportunity for a new friendship.

Another example of heartbreak quotes is: "You take the sun light out of my day, Now all I'm left with is skies covered in gray clouds." In this example we have colors metaphors a person's day light is always depended on his friend, and when the friendship has turned into a sad love then all he sees is morbid gray colors.

To conclude you can always see a deep meaning in those quotes, but you have to remember that even they look depressing at first, after you take the time to think about the deep meaning and metaphors you can see that those quotes can also be very optimistic. Sometimes the difference between happy moods and sad feelings are only in our point of view. With a little creativity you can always take disadvantage and turn it to a big advantage.

Meaningful Quotes

Meaningful Quotes

Meaningful Quotes
By Anton Lowenthal

For a quote to be meaningful, it has to go beyond being merely clever and point to deeper truths about existence. The same goes for meaningful quotes about love- they have to be more than just some superficial commentary on the usually short-lived pangs of the lust of new romantic love. The quote "If loving you is wrong, I don't want to be right" is not much more than a pop reference to that queasy feeling associated with new love or abusive/ dependent relationships. Contrast this to some of Thich Nhat Hahn's quotes about tending to loved ones as one would lettuce, doing what's necessary to help make it grow. It points to the truth that love is not about having sex with someone, but understanding.

Betty Smith had some wisdom to share when she said to "Look at everything as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time. Then your time on earth will be filled with glory." How many things in our life do we take for granted- how many people? If the quote "familiarity breeds contempt" applies to you, perhaps you should take the advice of Betty. Because nothing is ever the same from moment to moment- that's the nature of reality. You might as well live in it.

I like short meaningful quotes because they're easy to remember, and can be used to get a point across without coming off as pretentious or silly. I've found that the phrase "Use it or lose it" applies to many things in life, from foreign languages we've learned to skills like writing, singing, or playing sports. Ruth Gordon had a more positive, proactive way of putting it. She said that "Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it with use." While she was talking about mustering up the courage to take on a challenge or face things that make us uneasy, the idea of strengthening things with use is right on, and something to remember if there's something about yourself that you would like to change for the better.

Another one of our famous meaningful quotes comes from Mary Tyler Moore, related to Ruth Gordon's, says that "You can't be brave if you've only had wonderful things happen to you." This is a great truth, especially good for those people who have had to deal with a lot of trials and tribulations in their lives. It is well put by the great Bruce Lee, who has one of the best meaningful quotes of all time that goes "Ask not for a life that is easy, ask for the strength to deal with a hard life".

Using Positive Affirmations And The Power of Intention

Using Positive Affirmations And The Power of Intention
ByJeremy Winters

If you have heard that positive affirmations can change your life for the better, you are more than likely quite intrigued by the possibilities that exist. You can use the power of the law of attraction to bring more money to yourself. You can use it to help attract love, and you can use it to expand your knowledge of how the universe works to a level you may have never thought imaginable. Here are some tips for putting the law of attraction to use within your own life.

The Power of Intention

Intention is a powerful tool for creating the best life possible for yourself and your loved ones. If you have ever used heartfelt prayer to ask for what you need or to seek peace, then you have used the power of intention. When you combine emotion, intent, and belief, you place yourself in a position to receive all the wonderful things that life has in store for you.

Positive Affirmations
Combine With Intention To Manifest Change

No matter what you desire, it is important that you frame your affirmations in a completely positive manner, so that you can make your intentions as strong as possible. By doing this, you open yourself to the wealth of the universe. Through the power of intention combined with the affirmations you use, you truly can manifest all kinds of changes in your life.

It is important to realize that all things exist in some form. The money you need is out there. The perfect person you wish you could spend your whole life with is somewhere, just waiting to meet you. The tools you need for learning exist, and so do the people you need to meet. When you stop to think about this, it makes the idea of lack seem utterly preposterous.

In order to use affirmations properly, it is important to know what you want. Spend some time thinking about your desires and work on framing your affirmative statements in a manner that will be most powerful. Do not use any negating statements that talk about what you do not wish to have. Think and speak in completely positive terms.

Once you have framed your affirmative statement, it is time to put it into action. Think, feel, and speak your intention. Here are some of the best ways to do this:

"All the good in the universe is mine."

"I have everything I need, and I am completely grateful for all I have."

"I am more happy than I have ever been, especially now that (fill in your desire here.)"

As you use the positive affirmations that you come up with, picture yourself enjoying whatever it is that you require. Feel yourself enjoying what you have, and believe it is on its way to you. Soon enough, you'll see changes large and small making their way into your life.

The Law of Attraction - We Are Vibrational Beings in a Vibrational Universe

By McMahon]Joanie McMahon The term vibrational being is coined by Abraham. Abraham is a cluster of non-physical beings who expresses blocks of thought through Esther Hicks. They bring the message of The Law of Attraction, the most powerful law in the universe. Jerry and Esther Hicks have been traveling for over 30 years now, mostly throughout the United States, spreading the word about the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction has been made popular by the movie "The Secret" that came out a few years ago. The teachings of Abraham have changed my life in ways I can only describe as a relief. I remember the first time I listened to a DVD by Abraham as expressed through Esther Hicks. I was in tears throughout the video because I felt such enormous relief. I was hearing a message that I needed to hear and had not heard for a long time. Abraham tells us that we are worthy beings, that our lives are supposed to be happy abundantand joyful. Life is suppose to be fun is the message. Now for me, even though I wanted my life to be fun and happy, I was not feeling those emotions most of the time. Somehow, I had forgotten who I really was. I was so confused with all that I had learned in my studies as a teacher/psychologist and in my life experience, that this message hit home as a deep knowing that I had lost touch with this that I really was. I realized that at last I was coming HOME to myself. I believed this message at a deep deep level. A KNOWING was recognized. We are vibrational beings. What does this mean? And we live in a vibrational universe. What does this mean? Practically, what does this mean? Well I have come to learn that the word vibration refers to our EMOTIONS. Have you ever felt angry and noticed the energy in that emotion. When people get angry there is a lot of emotion expressed. It comes from deep within and often it feels like it is uncontrollable. Now in our culture, we are mostly afraid of our anger and tend to stuff it because it is unpopular. People do not find it fun to be around. But in that emotion is a message that is most important and if we want to be well, we must listen to it. I am only choosing anger because this is an emotion that we have all felt and perhaps all tried to 'stuff.' What this emotion is telling us is that the thought that we are thinking in this moment is not accurate. That is why if feels so bad. Now it may be more truthful than say the despair wehad beenfeeling, because despair has much less energy than anger but nonetheless, neither anger nor despair is our truth. What could be some of the things that we are despairing or angry about? Well as a psychologist and a woman who has experienced a lot of life both wonderful and difficult, I have come to some conclusions about things that I think may be helpful to many of you. I have come to the knowing that many many people are not seeing who they really are. I was one of them. Through the teachings of Abraham, I know have an understanding of our emotions and their importance. Our emotions are vibrations that we emit out into the universe and in return we receive the emotional equivalent of these emotions in the form of experiences and things and people. It is called the law of attraction. We attract through our emotions which are vibration. Now most people are attracting unconsciously. They do not know that they are so powerful that they can be, do or have anything they want. And they go about their lives believing that their thoughts come and go and they have no control over them. When one understands that we are vibrational and that we come from non-physical energy and that in this moment we are physically focused but we have a non-physical presence that is the larger part of us by far. This non-physical part of us combined with our physical beings are powerful creators. We have access to infinite intelligence that is the intelligence that creates worlds, beings and all things. Our emotions or vibrations are indicators of how we are doing. They are indicators that tell us if we are going towards or away from our happiness. Each time we do something that feels bad to us (this can show in the form of emotions like hurt, anger, frustration, disappointment etc.), we are doing or thinking something that is taking us away from our true nature. And likewise, each time we feel good (and this is shown in the emotions of joy, love, passion and a deep knowing), we know that this is an indicator that we are moving towards this that will bring us happiness. Now we have decided what our happiness is. For example, if we are sick, we ask for wellness and this larger part of us takes that desire and makes it so. Our wellness is created vibrationally. If we are poor, we ask for more money or abundance and this larger part of us takes this desire and makes it so as well. Everything we ask for is always given. Ask and it is given is the truth. So we want to take our emotions seriously. They are the only guidance that will not go screwy on us, because they come from deep within us, from our infinite intelligence. Our emotions are our guidance, our truest form of guidance. Now, have you ever had the experience of doing something that felt right even though there was not any factual evidence that this would be good for you. But you trusted this guidance and sure enough it led you to the path that you needed. When we decide that there is nothing that is more important each day than that we feel good, then we will be truly living the life of our dreams. We will be led to everything that we have waiting for us in this vibrational place of abundance that we have created with our thoughts and emotions. This is how the Law of Attraction is at play. The Law of Attraction lies at the basis of all that is in our universe. Joanie McMahon is a business woman who is passionate about wellness for everyone. She is very interested in helping others understand the Law of Attraction and improve their emotional well-being so that all the wonderful adventures a person is wanting can come forth into their experience. The Power of Positive Thinking

By Rileys R

All sorts of authors and gurus preach the important of positive thinking. Some of it is baloney, but it could not be denied that a positive attitude begets positive results. The power of positive thinking lies in shifting your attitudes in order to have a better view of things, on which you can act in the appropriate manner.

Positive thinking's effect on attitudes also invariably alters one's behavior, by which one can do what needs to be done. This should not be taken to mean that one can influence things beyond their reach. The effects of positive thinking in your life are limited to the things that you actually have control over. However, if you are used to thinking in limited or negative ways, it may seem that you have less control than you actually have.

Positive thinking will obviously not allow the manipulation of inanimate objects by sheer mind power. To hope to be able do such a thing is not only unrealistic, but revealing of one's lack of commitment to make actual changes in their life.

Some have been known to target certain things to achieve in life. It could be attaining one million dollars in five years' time, or perhaps to get the girl of their dreams in a couple of years' time. These are well and good aspirations or goals.

However, mere focus on goals is not going to achieve anything. One must be as determined to find out the 'how' of getting what one wants. To merely dream for something is to step off a ledge, expecting there to be a bridge, when there is no bridge to get to where one wants to go.

It is important to create in your mind a clear vision of what you want to achieve. This tiny reality in your mind can turn into a tangible thing, when you start looking at everything around you as a means to that end. Pretty soon, you will find a system by which to achieve what you want. Perhaps you have long wanted to be able to ask women out upon first meeting them. By constant envisioning of your goal, you find yourself needing to take action now, as opposed to later, making things materialize with whatever you have at present, without waiting for someone to coach you or to guide you every step of the way.

Positive thinking does not mean anything unless you are able to summon the motivation to practice what you think. In the case of meeting women, this means conquering your fears in order to present yourself in a positive light.

Positive Affirmations For Improving Self Esteem

author Evelyn Lim

Positive affirmations are effective and beneficial tools for improving self esteem because these statements are positive, tangible energies that, by redirecting our thoughts, can alter our emotions. Perhaps, you may not have realised it but the things you tell yourself and the beliefs you have about yourself contribute in a concrete way to your self esteem. If you are feeling inadequate and weak, it is most likely you believe that you are so, and very soon your belief will become fact. In like manner, you can increase your self esteem by actively working on modifications to your self-talk and basic beliefs about yourself.

It is hard to think highly of yourself when you constantly badmouth yourself. Like a bad recording, the inner voice of your ego constantly gives subliminal feedback, and if you program it with negative thoughts, it will keep saying you're never good enough and whittling away your self esteem. But with affirmations, you are able to drown out the negative chatter with positive statements, helping tremendously in improving self esteem.

Using positive affirmations for improving self esteem, especially at times of duress, helps you keep your composure and balance to fend off the noise from the internal negative critic. It is believed that affirmations combine the energies of conscious and subconscious minds to help attain a goal.

Here are some positive affirmation statements that you can use to help you in improving self esteem:

* I am an important and valuable human being, and I deserve to be respected by others.

* I am eager to go through a greater level of self esteem. I am worthy of it and I am prepared for it.

* I am confident about life; I always long for and enjoy new challenges.

* I am a unique person and a creative individual.

* As I build up my self esteem, I feel better about self, my work, my relationships, and every aspect of my life.

* I am actively in control of my life and lead it in productive channels.

* I take time to get to know myself and I treat myself with respect.

* I feel valuable even if I am aware that I have made a mistake.

* I am an action person, and I define my priorities and do things one at a time.

* I take compliments without doubt and give them readily to others.

Improving self esteem is an active and continuing process. Say these positive affirmations on a daily basis and see the difference that they can make to your life.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals

By Jim_Rohn

(excerpted from the Jim Rohn One-Year Success Plan)

Jim Rohn's Second Pillar of Success: Goal-Setting, Part Three - S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Hi, Jim Rohn here. As you know, we are focused on the Second Pillar of Success this month - Goal-Setting.

We have introduced the four main components of Goal-Setting:

1. Evaluation and Reflection.
The only way we can reasonably decide what we want in the future and how we will get there, is to first know where we are right now and secondly, what our level of satisfaction is for where we are in life. As we focus this month on goal-setting, our first order of business and our topic two weeks ago was evaluation and reflection.

2. Dreams and Goals.
What are your dreams and goals? Not related to the past or what you think you can get, but what you want. Have you ever really sat down and thought through your life values and decided what you really want? This isn't something that someone else says you should have or what culture tells us successful people do or have. These are the dreams and goals that are born out of your own heart and mind. These are the goals that are unique to you and come from who you were created to be and gifted to become. Last week we showed you exactly how to find out what you want from life.

3. S.M.A.R.T. Goals.
S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive.

Specific: Don't be vague. Exactly what do you want?

Measurable: Quantify your goal. How will you know if you've achieved it or not?

Attainable: Be honest with yourself about what you can reasonably accomplish at this point in your life - along with taking into consideration your current responsibilities.

Realistic: It's got to be do-able, real and practical.

Time: Associate a timeframe with each goal. When should you complete the goal?

We will spend time this week looking at how to apply the S.M.A.R.T. test to your goals to make sure they are as powerful as they can be!

4. Accountability.
Think of the word "accountable." It means to "give an account." When someone knows what your goals are, they help hold you accountable. Whether it is someone else going through this program with you (have you thought about inviting a friend to join you on this one-year journey?) or just someone you can give the basic idea to, having a person who can hold you accountable will give you another added boost to getting your goals! Next week we will show you how to set up an accountability partner.

This week we will be discussing point 3 - S.M.A.R.T. Goals.

S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive.

I really like this acronym S.M.A.R.T., because we want to be smart when we set our goals. We want to intelligently decide what our goals will be so that we can actually accomplish them. We want to set the goals that our heart conceives, that our mind believes and that our bodies will carry out. Let's take a closer look at each of the components of S.M.A.R.T. goals:

Specific: Goals are no place to waffle. They are no place to be vague. Ambiguous goals produce ambiguous results. Incomplete goals produce incomplete futures.

When we are specific, we harness the power of our dreams and set forces into action that empower us to achieve our goals. We then know exactly what it is we are shooting for. There is no question. As we establish our priorities and manage our time, we do so for a specific goal to achieve the results we expect. There is no wondering or guessing. The future is locked into our minds and we see it - specifically - and that is powerful! Never underestimate just how important it is to have very specific, concrete goals. They act as magnets that draw you toward them! A S.M.A.R.T. goal is specific.

Measurable: Always set goals that are measurable. I would say "specifically measurable" to take into account our principle of being specific as well. Our goals should be such that we know when we are advancing and by how much. Whether it is by hours, pounds, dollars or whatever, we should be able to see exactly how we are measuring up as we proceed through the journey of life using our goals. Could you imagine if you didn't measure your goals? You would never know which way you were going or even if you were going anywhere! A S.M.A.R.T. goal is measurable.

Attainable: One of the detrimental things that many people do - and they do it with good intentions - is to set goals that are so high they are unattainable. Yes, it is very important to set big goals that cause your heart to soar with excitement, but it is also imperative to make sure that they are attainable. In the next section we talk about being realistic. So what does it mean to be attainable? An attainable goal is one that is both realistic but also attainable in a shorter period of time than what you have to work with. Now when I say attainable, I don't mean easy. Our goals should be set so they are just out of our reach; so they will challenge us to grow as we reach forward to achieve them. After the next paragraph, I will give you an example of a goal that is both attainable and realistic. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is attainable.

Realistic: The root word of realistic is "real." A goal has to be something that we can reasonably make "real" or a "reality" in our lives. There are some goals that simply are not realistic. You have to be able to say, even if it is a tremendously stretching goal, that yes, indeed, it is entirely realistic -- that you could make it. You may even have to say that it will take x, y, and z to do it, but if those happen, then it can be done. This is in no way to say it shouldn't be a big goal, but it must be realistic. This is to a great degree, up to the individual. For one person a goal may be realistic, but for another unrealistic. I would encourage you to be very honest with yourself as you do your planning and evaluation. Perhaps it would be good to get a friend to help you (as long as that friend is by nature an optimist and not a pessimist). This can go a long way toward helping you know what is realistic. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is realistic.

Example of Attainable and Realistic: Knowing that perhaps you could use a bit of help differentiating attainable and realistic, here is an example: You are overweight and have 150 pounds to lose to get to your proper weight. Is that goal attainable? Yes, considering that you also make it realistic. For example, it isn't realistic to think you can do it in 5 months. 18-24 months would be realistic (with hard work). Thus, losing 150 pounds in 2 years is both attainable and realistic, while losing 150 pounds in 5 months is neither attainable nor realistic.

Time: Every goal should have a timeframe attached to it. I think that life itself is much more productive for us as humans because there is a timeframe connected to it. Could you imagine how much procrastination there would be on earth if people never died? We would never get "around to it." We could always put it off. One of the powerful aspects of a great goal is that it has an end, a time in which you are shooting to accomplish it. You start working on it because you know there is an end. As time goes by you work because you don't want to get behind. As it approaches, you work diligently because you want to meet the deadline. You may even have to break down a big goal into different measured parts time frames. That is okay. Set smaller goals and work them out in their own time. A S.M.A.R.T. goal has a timeline.

Be sure to spend some reflection time this week to make sure your goals fit the S.M.A.R.T. parameters. Go through the reflection questions below and the action points associated with them. Doing so will put a real engine in your goals and make them charged with power to help you accomplish your dreams.

Until next week, let's do something remarkable!

Inspirational Sayings By Jim Rohn

The first time l had the pleasure of hearing Jim Rohn speak he would say such wonderful saying like learn to work harder on your self than you do on your job, If you work hard on your job you will make a living, but if you work hard on yourself you will make a fortune.

This stuck in my mind and got me thinking about the things l was doing in my life. Then Jim would say discipline weighs ounces regret weighs ton how many times have we said this to ourselves but we haven,t taken any notice or action to change theses patterns we have created in our daily lives.

The best one Jim rohn said was if you want to know what your next 5 years are going to be like just look at your last 5 years because unless you change everything will stay the same for you wow l thought this is what l have being doing wrong all this time so l started to change the small things first then l started with the big stuff later this was so powerful.

Then Jim said something really funny one day but had great meaning he was talking to one of his employers one day asking him how well was he doing on his sales the guy replies ok so jim said how many sales have you made so the guy started making excuses so Jim replied do you know way they make this square so small, the guy replied to Jim no l don't and Jim in his brilliance replied so you can't put any excuses in it.

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne - Review

By Caolan Patrick

An International Bestseller, 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne is a self-help book which focuses on the power of human thought. The book has its origin in an incident in the life of the author. Going through a tough phase in her life the author consulted a variety of self-help books herself, which led her to find the key to succeed in life, which she dubbed as the "great secret of life". Practicing her new found theory, the author brought about remarkable changes in her own life which were nothing short of a miracle.

To share her discovery, the author first made a video film called 'The Secret' in the form of a documentary having a number of interviews. Released on the web in March 2006, the video was soon made into a DVD. It was followed by the book of the same name which became an overnight success. The basic message of the book is that we can get everything we want, simply with the power of positive thinking. The theory of Byrne is based heavily on the 'Law of Attraction' and states that we can control every aspect of our life through our thinking.

As per the 'Law of Attraction' in order to achieve anything we must ask the Universe for that thing. We need to know what we want and visualize our dreams as coming true. To make the thing we desire happen, we must first make ourselves believe that what we want is really happening. And we must be ready to receive it. According to the law, if you want something honestly and believe it would happen, the Universe would help make that very thing possible.

Through her book author Rhonda Byrne emphasizes that we human beings have a far greater control over our life than we know. 'The Secret' states that whenever we think of something we attract it to us. Thinking about success would attract success, while on the other hand worrying about failure and thinking about it would attract failure. In other words by controlling the direction of our thoughts we can change the outcome of events. Thus, our thoughts can help us shape our own destiny. The book states that the current situation in our life is the outcome of our thoughts. The author is of the opinion that the entire Universe is connected and everything has a frequency of its own and when you focus your thoughts on the same frequency, you can achieve anything and everything you want.

Though through these principles you can bring about a positive change in your life, yet there are some unanswered questions. When hundreds of individuals die in a plane crash, does all of them have negative thoughts to attract such a fate? Again, for great achievers it is not only ask, believe and receive, but strong desire, persistence and perseverance which help them get what they want. Even with the slight drawbacks, the book is worth a read.

A self-help book, 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne is based on the theory that our thoughts have the power to help us get what we want. Based on the 'laws of attraction', the book tells us that thinking about something and believing it would happen attracts it towards us and actually makes that thing happen.

Why Tony Robbins' Affirmation Didn't Work For Me

By Thomas Lomax

When I began my search to learn how to "get rich" by using the power of my mind, I came across many different types of affirmations. One of them was put together by motivational guru Tony Robbins. He claims the following affirmation, which he called an incantation, helped him to become a millionaire in less than a year:

"God's wealth is circulating in my life. His wealth flows to me in avalanches of abundance. All my needs, desires and goals are met instantaneously. For, I am One with God, and God is everything."

Wow! That's a great affirmation, right? So, I immediately began to repeat it to myself...last thing at night, first thing in the morning, and, all throughout the day. But, I noticed that, within myself, something wasn't quite right.

In addition, through my research, I had learned that you should begin to see some kind of sign that an affirmation is working within a period of 7-10 days. If nothing is happening, it could be that you've chosen the wrong affirmation. That seemed to be what my intuition was telling me was true here. So, I decided to break the wording down and see what it was I was really saying to myself.

First, here's what Tony Robbins probably heard in his subconscious:

"The Infinite Intelligence behind all manifestation is flowing Its abundance into all areas of my life. This abundance is flowing to me greatly. Whatever I need or desire is already mine to claim because Infinite Intelligence operates outside of time and in the Universal Now. And, I, Tony, am a part of this Intelligence because It is All There Is."

WOW! That's really powerful, isn't it? It's no wonder Tony got rich pretty quick!

However, when I said this same affirmation, here's what my subconscious heard:

"The One who will judge my soul for all eternity has been kind enough to bless me daily. His wealth, which is his not mine, is visible all around me. My needs are mostly met, but certainly not all my selfish desires. Because, I am a sinner and, in truth, separated from God."

That's a very different affirmation, isn't it? Is it any wonder I didn't feel like avalanches of riches were coming my way after saying that?

So, what I learned was, when you say an affirmation, you have 2 main options to choose from if you want to be successful with it:

1. The words you say must agree, on some level, with what you already believe, or can easily come to believe. You have to find a way to state your goals and desires so as to create very little, if any, argument with ideas you hold to be true. This, needless to say, is quite an art.
2. Your beliefs need to be changed so as to be compatible with your new goals. This, ironically, is one of the reasons people take up affirmations. They want to use them to re-program themselves. Other options are hypnosis or some form of therapy (talk, energy, or body-centered).

It's important to understand this because affirmations, when they are well put together, naturally and automatically lead to visualization, a necessary component in reality creation. It's also important because one of the most critical reasons affirmations fail to work as desired is that they create a kind of internal conflict. As soon as you say something, an objection to it arises. So, what you really end up affirming is the objection. This objection is usually related to a deep-seated belief that has stopped what you're affirming from manifesting in the first place.

So, be patient and practice writing your affirmations in ways that will bring you want you want, and, at the same time, not raise any objections from your ever on-guard subconscious mind.
